Putt circles hole but doesn't drop
Pronunciation
/lɪp aʊt/

A putt that catches the edge of the hole and spins around the rim but doesn't fall in. Lip outs are among the most frustrating occurrences in golf, as the ball comes so close to going in but stays out.
