Albatross

Three strokes under par

Pronunciation

/ˈæl.bəˌtrɒs/

Definition

Scoring three strokes under par on a hole. Also known as a double eagle, an albatross is exceedingly rare. For example, if a player hits their second shot into the hole on a Par 5, or gets a hole-in-one on a Par 4. This is one of the rarest achievements in golf.
